PowerPack Shows Failed Despite Exit Code 0

A PowerPack installs successfully on a computer, and PowerPack.exe exits with code 0. The CapaInstaller Console still shows the package as Failed.

The problem is intermittent. It isn’t tied to a specific PowerPack, script, or computer, and it can occur in several environments.

When a PowerPack finishes, PowerPack.exe sends the package result to the CapaInstaller agent (CiBaseAgent). In rare cases, PowerPack.exe exits before the agent has received the result. The agent then has no record of the successful installation, and the console shows the package as Failed.

This is a timing issue in the agent. The package itself installed correctly.

  1. Confirm that the package installed correctly. Open the package log and check that the script ended with exit code 0. See Taking a look at all the logfiles.
  2. In the CapaInstaller Console, right-click the package on the unit and select Set to installed. Or select Set to waiting to run the package again.

If the problem happens often, contact CapaSystems Support. Include PowerPackServer.log and PowerPackClient.log from the affected installation.
