Computers in Asset Management

The following is a description of the Computers Node in Asset Management; it is available from the Unit Management entry. Every computer is a complex collection of components made by a variety of manufacturers. As time goes on, it can become difficult to keep track of which components are installed where, in the network. When an important driver update is released, for example, managers need to know which workstations employ the relevant component. And when distributing new software and operating systems, hardware requirements often need to be considered.

With Unit Management, managers can check the components of any workstation without needing to travel to the physical machine or open its enclosure. Out-of-date components and computers lacking sufficient RAM or disk space for newer applications can be found instantly anywhere in the network.

The computer properties which will be collected as described below. The different elements will be categorized.
