Notepad++ CapaInstaller Language Missing After Moving to a New PC

On a new PC or a new Windows user profile, Notepad++ doesn’t list CapaInstaller in its Language menu. This happens even after you reinstall the CapaInstaller Scripting Integration package.

Notepad++ stores custom languages in a userDefineLang.xml file. The Scripting Integration package puts this file on the PC, but it doesn’t import the language into Notepad++ for you.

  1. Find the file C:\Program Files\Notepad++\userDefineLang.xml.
  2. In Notepad++, select Language → Define your language… → Import….
  3. Select the userDefineLang.xml file.
  4. Close Notepad++ completely, then reopen it.
  5. Select Language → CapaInstaller.

The CapaInstaller language now appears in the Language menu.
