User Marked as Deleted

A device in CapaOne shows its associated user as Marked as deleted, even though the user exists normally in Management → Users. The Account Enabled field on the device shows a minus sign instead of a checkmark.

This can occur on both Android and Apple devices.

This happens when the user’s Object ID in Azure AD / Entra ID has changed — most commonly because the account was deleted and recreated in Azure AD, which assigns it a new Object ID. CapaOne retains the original Object ID reference from the directory sync, which is now invalid, so the linked user on the device is flagged as deleted.

A secondary cause is an expired Client Secret for the Entra ID integration. If the secret expired during a sync cycle, the sync may have completed partially, leaving some user references in an inconsistent state.

Manually reassign the active user directly on the affected device in CapaOne:

  1. Navigate to the affected device in CapaOne.
  2. Open the device and locate the user assignment field.
  3. Remove the current user marked as deleted.
  4. Add the correct active user to the device.

The device will now show the correct user with a valid account status.

  • Verify the Client Secret has not expired — go to Integrations and check the Entra ID connection. If the secret is expired, renew it and trigger a new sync.
  • Check the user in Entra ID — if the account was recently deleted and recreated, it will have a new Object ID. The old reference in CapaOne will always show as deleted and must be replaced manually as described above.
