Import Wifi Profile

Adds a wireless network to the device from a profile file that was exported on a reference device. The network can be installed for all users so it is available before anyone signs in, and the device can optionally connect to it right away. Remember to include the Download Content brick when the profile file comes from $PackageRoot.\n\nExport the profile on a reference device with:\nnetsh wlan export profile name=“<Network Name>” folder=C:\Temp key=clear\n\nAn export made with key=clear holds the network key in clear text, so treat the package content as a secret. Export without key=clear when the key must not be stored in the package. The brick never writes the profile content or the network key to the log.\n\nUse the Create Wifi Profile brick instead when you would rather type the network settings directly and skip the reference device, or the Create Enterprise Wifi Profile brick for a network that signs users in with 802.1X. Use the Remove Wifi Profile brick to take a network off a device again.\n\nTip - dynamic values: a value typed here is applied unchanged to every device the workflow runs on. When different offices, models or hardware need different settings, add an Execute PowerShell Snippet brick earlier in the same workflow, let it work out the right value for the device it is running on, and use that value here instead of a fixed one. One workflow then covers every site, instead of one workflow per site. The same approach works with any brick.

Required — Default: $PackageRoot\WiFiProfile.xml

Full path to the Wi-Fi profile file that was exported on a reference device, as described in the brick description. Remember to include the Download Content brick when using $PackageRoot. Example: $PackageRoot\WiFiProfile.xml\n\nThe deployment stops with an error when the file is missing, when it is not readable as a profile file, or when it is not a Wi-Fi profile.

Optional

The name of the wireless network the profile belongs to. Example: Office-North. Leave this empty to use the network name stored in the profile file, which is what most deployments should do. When the value does not match the network name in the profile file, the name from the profile file is used and a warning is written to the log.

Required — Default: True

Enable to let the device connect to the wireless network on its own whenever the network is in range. Disable to require the user to pick the network manually. This setting is applied to the network after it has been added, so it overrules the connection mode stored in the profile file.

Required — Default: False

Enable to make the device try to connect to the wireless network right after it has been added. The wait for the connection is limited to 30 seconds, so the deployment never hangs. A device that is out of range is reported as a warning in the log and the deployment still counts as successful. Disable when the device only needs the network for later use.
