# Upgrade AutoSteps

It is recommenced to stop the PerformanceGuard agent before upgrading AutoSteps.

- Install the new AutoSteps version. You don't need to remove the previously installed AutoSteps first.

You can not upgrade if you are already running the newest version.
:::

:::tip
You will need a user name and password as this is also used for Windows AutoLogon when you have to upgrade the AutoSteps. The logon information is not stored secure on the computer.
