# Network Applications

> Define client/server applications, web applications, and application groups so PerformanceGuard can measure how they perform.

Before you can measure how your applications perform, you must define them in **ADMINISTRATION > Network Applications**. PerformanceGuard distinguishes between client/server applications, web applications, and application groups.
