# Tag Windows Endpoints

> Create tags, put them on Windows endpoints by hand or during enrollment, and use them to filter and target endpoints.

Tags are labels you put on Windows endpoints, such as `Sales`, `Server`, or `Aarhus`. Use them to
find endpoints in the list, and to build saved filters that workflows and other features can
target. Tags are available for Windows endpoints only.

Endpoints get tags in two ways:

- You add them by hand, to one or many endpoints.
- An [enrollment configuration](/capaone/enrollment/windows-enrollment/) adds them when the
  endpoint enrolls.

## Create a tag

1. Go to **Windows → Endpoints** and select the **Tags** tab.
2. Click **New**.
3. Enter a tag name and click **Create**.

Tag names can contain letters, digits, and underscores. Spaces and other special characters
aren't allowed, and each name must be unique.

You can also create a tag while you're adding tags to endpoints: click **New** in the
**Tag management** panel.

## Add or remove tags on endpoints

1. Go to **Windows → Endpoints → List**.
2. Select the endpoints you want to tag.
3. Open the actions menu and select **Manage tags**.
4. In the **Tag management** panel, find the tag and click **Apply** to add it, or **Remove** to
   remove it.
5. Confirm.

To tag a single endpoint, open the endpoint's page and select **Manage tags** in its actions menu.

## Find endpoints with a tag

- On the **Tags** tab, click a tag to open the endpoint list filtered by that tag.
- In the endpoint list, add a filter on the **Tags** field. Save the filter to reuse it, for
example as the filter of an [Automation](/capaone/application-manager/automation/) workflow.

## Rename or delete a tag

On the **Tags** tab, open the row menu of the tag and select **Rename** or **Delete**.

When you delete a tag that's in use, CapaOne tells you how many endpoints, configurations, and
enrollment configurations it will be removed from. Confirm to delete it everywhere.
