# Use query based membership

> Link new or unassigned computers to groups based on inventory values, leaving already-linked computers where they are.

Use "Query-based membership" to link new or unassigned computers to groups depending on inventory values. If a computer is already linked to a group, it will not be moved to the new group. Only computers that are unassigned can be moved automatically. To move a computer from one group to another is has to be done manually from the GUI.
