# Unassign or delete a package

> Remove a package from a group or from a single unit, and the options each of those offers.

How you remove a package depends on whether you have selected it on a group or on a single unit.

## From a group

Right-click the package under the group and choose one of:

- **Unlink from group** — removes the link between the package and that group. The package itself is untouched and stays available for other groups and units.
- **Delete** — deletes the package entirely. This is not available on CapaInstaller's default packages.

## From a unit

Right-click the package on the unit and choose **Unlink**. This removes the package assignment from that single unit. Deleting the package is only possible from the package itself, not from a unit.

Unlinking only removes the assignment in the console — it does not uninstall the software from the client. To actively uninstall, use *Schedule uninstallation* on the unit; see [Change package status](/capainstaller/the-capainstaller-console/configuration-management/how-to-use-configuration-management/working-with-packages/change-package-status/).
